How to take a puppy home

For puppy enquiries
At Diva Noire Kennel every dachshund is of show quality, with a pedigree and microchip. Our puppies are raised in the family with love, so it matters to us that they go to homes where the same love awaits them. Below you can read how the process works.

The process step by step

1Getting to know each other

Write or call and tell us about yourselves: who lives in the family, what your home is like, whether you already have pets, and whether you are looking for a show or a family puppy. We will introduce the parents and the litter too.

2Choosing a puppy and reservation

You can find the current litters and the puppies looking for a home on the Litters page. Reservation terms are agreed personally.

3Contract and handover

The terms and date of the handover are agreed in advance and put in writing. A puppy moves to its new home when it is mature enough and has received the necessary vaccinations.

4Follow-up

We are here for you after the handover as well: we gladly help with raising, feeding and health questions, and advise those with show ambitions.

What comes with the puppy?

Pedigree

Pedigreed, show-quality puppies of known origin.

Microchip and vaccinations

Puppies go to their new owners microchipped, with age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, after a veterinary check.

Advice and support

A feeding and raising guide, continuous help while the puppy settles in, and more than 35 years of breeding experience.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How much does a puppy cost?

The price depends on the litter, the quality of the puppy and the intended use (family companion, showing or breeding). Please ask for personal information by e-mail or phone.

What is the smooth-haired standard dachshund like?

Lively, brave, intelligent and attached, yet independent-minded. A very good hunting dog, so it loves exercise, sniffing and tasks. It needs consistent, loving training.

How much grooming does it need?

The short, smooth coat is easy to care for: an occasional brushing plus regular nail, ear and dental care. Keeping a healthy weight is particularly important for this long-backed breed.

How much exercise does it need?

Several walks and play sessions a day. Do not overload a young puppy, and avoid lots of stairs and jumping while it is growing.

How does it get along with children and other pets?

With proper socialisation it fits in well as a family dog with children and other pets. Always supervise contact with small children.

Can it be left alone?

Dachshunds are strongly attached to their family. Get your puppy used to being alone gradually, in small steps, and provide enough exercise and activity.

What should I feed?

High-quality food suited to the dog's age. We give detailed feeding advice at handover and are happy to help later too.

More questions? Write or call us, we will gladly answer. You can find the current puppies on the Litters page.
